Safari Overview
Experience Tanzania's most iconic wildlife destinations — the vast plains of the Serengeti and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater — in just three unforgettable days. This short yet immersive safari combines a scenic flight from Arusha with expertly guided game drives, luxury wilderness lodges, and spectacular landscapes teeming with Africa's Big Five.
Starting and ending in Arusha, the itinerary maximises your time on the ground: a one-way flight skips the long drive into the Serengeti, leaving you with a full afternoon game drive on day one, an unforgettable transition day through the heart of the park to the Ngorongoro Crater rim, and a final descent into the crater floor before returning to Arusha.
Detailed Itinerary
Arrival Day
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to your Arusha lodge. Evening safari briefing and dinner as you prepare for the fly-in safari ahead. Your guide plans a smooth day with breaks, time for photos, and flexibility based on weather and your preferences. Overnight at Arusha Planet Lodge or similar. Tip: move slowly, drink water regularly, and tell your guide early if you feel headache, nausea, or unusual fatigue.
Arusha — Fly to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Arusha Airport for your morning flight to the Serengeti. Enjoy stunning aerial views of the Great Rift Valley, the Ngorongoro Highlands, and the endless savannahs as you descend into the heart of the Serengeti.
Upon arrival, your safari guide will meet you at the airstrip and take you on your first game drive across the legendary plains. The Serengeti is home to large prides of lions, graceful cheetahs, massive herds of wildebeest and zebras, and countless giraffes and elephants. In the late afternoon, arrive at your selected luxury camp or lodge, set in the middle of the wilderness. Relax with sundowners around the campfire before a candle-lit dinner under the stars.
Full Day Game Drive — Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Wake up early for a sunrise game drive when predators are most active. Capture unforgettable photos of lions on the hunt, elephants bathing in the river, or herds grazing as the golden light fills the plains. After brunch, continue your drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying wildlife sightings along the way. Arrive at your lodge on the crater rim by evening — a spectacular location overlooking one of the world's most dramatic natural wonders. Relax and enjoy the view from your terrace as the sun sets over the caldera.
Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive on the crater floor — black rhinos, lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, flamingos, and hippos. Picnic lunch by the hippo pool before ascending to the highlands.
Maasai Land
Visit a traditional Maasai community in the Karatu / Ngorongoro highlands — welcome songs, beadwork, fire-making, and insight into one of East Africa's most iconic cultures. Your guide plans a smooth day with breaks, time for photos, and flexibility based on weather and your preferences. Overnight at Karatu lodge or Arusha Planet Lodge. Tip: move slowly, drink water regularly, and tell your guide early if you feel headache, nausea, or unusual fatigue.
Farewell
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport for your onward flight.
