Detailed Itinerary
Arrival Day
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you will be warmly welcomed by your professional driver-guide and transferred to Arusha, a vibrant safari gateway set beneath the slopes of Mount Meru. Settle into your luxurious hotel and unwind after your journey before enjoying a traditional Tanzanian welcome dinner, featuring the famous Nyama Choma. A personalized welcome kit will be provided, marking the beginning of your unforgettable safari experience.
Arusha — Tarangire National Park — Karatu
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, a scenic and wildlife-rich park renowned for its giant baobab trees and some of the largest elephant herds in East Africa. The Tarangire River attracts a wide variety of wildlife, offering excellent opportunities to spot lions, giraffes, zebras, and diverse bird species during your game drive. In the afternoon, continue through the picturesque countryside to Karatu, a charming highland town surrounded by coffee plantations, where you will relax in a tranquil lodge setting.
Karatu — Central Serengeti
Journey toward the iconic Serengeti National Park, passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with its dramatic landscapes and sweeping views. Continue into the Central Serengeti, known for its vast open plains and high concentration of wildlife, where an evening game drive introduces you to lions, leopards, and grazing herds as the sun sets over the savannah.
Central Serengeti — Northern Serengeti (Mara Region)
After an early breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive heading toward the Northern Serengeti, one of the most remote and spectacular regions of the park. This area comes alive between July and October with the Great Migration, when thousands of wildebeest and zebras brave the dramatic Mara River crossings, often pursued by crocodiles and predators. Enjoy continuous wildlife viewing along the way before arriving at your tented camp near the Mara River, where the sounds of the wild surround you.
Northern Serengeti — Central Serengeti
Spend the morning exploring the Northern Serengeti, maximizing your chances of witnessing migration herds and predator action, before making your way back to the Central Serengeti. This transition offers a diverse game viewing experience across different ecosystems, from riverine landscapes to open plains rich in resident wildlife. Arrive at your lodge in time to relax and enjoy the sweeping views of the Serengeti. An optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged for a truly unforgettable perspective of the plains.
Central Serengeti — Ngorongoro Crater — Karatu
Depart early for the Ngorongoro Crater, descending into this UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. Often described as a natural wildlife sanctuary, the crater is home to over 25,000 animals, including the Big Five, with excellent chances of spotting the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a half-day game drive across its diverse habitats — grasslands, swamps, and soda lakes — before ascending to the highlands and returning to Karatu for a relaxing evening.
Maasai Land + Farewell at Arusha / Airport
After breakfast, visit a traditional Maasai community in the Karatu / Ngorongoro highlands — welcome songs, beadwork, fire-making, and insight into pastoral life. Later, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport for your onward flight, taking with you memories of Tanzania's wildlife and Maasai hospitality.
